The proposal will focus on exploring methods of communication beyond spoken and written language by using drawings, maps, sounds, and movement as scores for the work.

How to participate?

The format is a five-day workshop that takes place both indoors and outdoors, featuring moments of reflection in the studio and experiments in the city’s public spaces.

Full participation is encouraged, as the work’s development unfolds collectively as an ongoing practice.

    Accessibility

  • Duration: 5 days, 4 hours per session
Participation in all five sessions is recommended.
There will be extended breaks, with spontaneous breaks possible at any time.

    Language: English/no language
Translations into German, Portuguese, and Spanish may be provided depending on the group.

    Possible barriers:
Some of the introduction material will be visual, so we account for establishing collective rounds of audio descriptions as part of the work. Simplified language will also be encouraged through the workshop as a constant practice. The workshop will engage drifts and walks around the city as part of its activities, therefore people with reduced mobility should communicate in advance so that we can accommodate these needs as part of the work. All bodies are welcome.

    Content note:
The workshop will invite practice in the public spaces in the city, so participants are expected to feel comfortable being outside on the streets. The premise is that the content is not strictly defined in advance, but rather unfolding from questions and reflections emerging from the observation practices, the drifts and the mapping. Therefore, more sensitive themes relating to the socio-political tissue of the participants might come up. We will ensure the use of non-violent language and safe environment to negotiate each case as they come up.
