Dilar Dirik and Ceren Yildrim

On September 28, political sociologist Dilar Dirik (University of Oxford) will be our guest. Dirik earned her PhD in 2019 from the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, focusing on the liberation struggles of women in Kurdistan. Her book, The Kurdish Women’s Movement: History, Theory, Practice, was published by Pluto Press.

Dilar Dirik was born in 1991 in Antakya and grew up in Offenbach am Main. She completed her PhD in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. Her book, The Kurdish Women’s Movement: History, Theory, Practice, published by Pluto Press in 2022, provides a detailed ethnography of the revolutionary Kurdish women’s liberation struggle. From 2019 to 2023, Dirik served as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Oxford. She has since left the academic world and now focuses on political education and internationalist networking efforts.

  • The event is a lecture and discussion situation. We also endeavor to explain complicated content simply and questions can always be asked. No prior knowledge is required. Participation with visual impairment is possible. Guide dogs are welcome. It will be possible to sit on chairs or cushions.

  • Duration: 2 hours
    Spontaneous breaks are possible at any time.
    Language: German
    We can also translate into English and Kurdish (Kurmanci).
