Mertonstraße 17-21, 60325 Frankfurt am Main
The Studierendenhaus is the political, cultural and social heart of the student body. Numerous events take place here: You can visit the university cinema pupille, use rooms for reading circles or autonomous tutorials yourself, visit the Café KoZ and also organize your own events!
The student house is located on the old university campus in Bockenheim and was opened in 1953. It is a symbol of the democratic awakening: thanks to a US-American foundation, a unique space was created here, which was primarily intended to serve a reorganization of student community life in the sense of cooperation, democracy and international spirit and thus represented a counterpoint to student life before 1945, which was largely shaped by student fraternities.
Over the next few years, the student body will build a new student house on the IG Farben Campus in Westend. However, the old student house, its spirit and its history should live on: This is why the AStA is committed to the long-term preservation of the current student house as a self-managed socio-cultural center: The Studierendenhaus should become an Open House of Cultures!
